A Thousand Channels
Taking its title from Édouard Glissant’s Poetics of Relation (‘one way ashore, a thousand channels’), this multi-part online radio programme archives conversations, compositions, music, poetry and process-based audio research. For the 2022 edition ‘Language is Migrant’, the first four episodes took on various aural modes and listening practices across multiple Indian Ocean territories, sounding out diasporic fringes and linguistic, historical and musical enclaves. The works also formed part of the listening spaces in Colombo. Episode 5 (2024) gathers five sound pieces in an arrangement that follows the forest as a space of mutual preservation, growth, sustenance and decay.
